Many Trump voters now have regrets. They believed that they wouldn’t be affected by his wrecking ball approach to government and now are suffering the consequences across the country. Those of us who voted against him understood the damage that would be done if he was elected again. Ramifications of blatant firings will have lasting effects on all of us for years to come. Medical research in cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, infectious disease and the probable outcomes of another pandemic and much more are all under the cutting blade.
Farmers in Maine and across the country, who signed contracts with the government to improve their practices, are hung out to dry with payments not forthcoming for purchases already made, putting them in financial danger. Will farmers have anyone to pick their crops as migrants are herded out of the country? Think about where much of our food comes from.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which makes sure that financial malfeasance at major banking and credit institutions are remediated, is closed.
Looking for an income tax return? Forget it! FEMA is under the hatchet. Natural disaster? No help from the feds.
We can’t fix problems with a chainsaw. We cut after analysis and prune carefully. There is no thoughtfulness in all of this, no consideration for the impact on people’s lives, no thought for the environmental impact. Ramifications of blatant firings will have lasting effects on all of us for years to come.
The adage “Be careful what you wish for” has now become true.
