Oxford Hills senior Ella Pelletier was announced Thursday as the recipient of the 2024-25 Gatorade Maine Girls Basketball Player of the Year award.
Pelletier, a 5-foot-11 guard who has committed to play at Stonehill University, averaged 23.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game this season. She led the Vikings to a 17-3 record and their ninth consecutive appearance in the Class AA North final.
“She can score at all levels and play all five positions on the floor,” said Brianne Maloney, coach of Class AA state champion South Portland, said in a news release. “My biggest takeaway watching Ella play the last four years has been how she is as a teammate. She’s the best player on the floor most nights, and there are many moments where she could be selfish, but she makes her teammates better. She’s as selfless as they come.”
Pelletier was named the SMAA Class AA North Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She also was a Miss Maine Basketball finalist.
She finished her high school career with 1,396 points, the most in Oxford Hills history — boys or girls. She also set a record for the girls’ team with 852 career rebounds.
