Maine State Police have released some identifying information about the woman whose body was found near Portland Head Light and are asking for help identifying her.
A caller reported seeing a deceased person in the water around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, and first responders arrived to find the woman on the rocks by the Cliff Walk at the park.
State police say she was a white woman who appeared to be in her 40s. She was about 5 feet 3 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a blue, medium-sized Fjallraven T-shirt; dark-washed, size 28 Frame jeans; and brown, size 7 Dr. Martens boots.

The woman had scars on her stomach from an appendectomy and on the back of her head from a surgery, with a surgical patch still attached. She also had a tattoo of a yin and yang symbol surrounded by a blue tornado.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about who the woman might be to contact them at 207-624-7076.
State police spokesperson Shannon Moss declined to answer questions about the condition of the woman’s body or any connections to missing persons cases.
“Every death is considered suspicious until investigators determine otherwise which would include the results of the autopsy and speaking with family members,” Moss said. “This remains an active investigation and we will share updates as they are available.”
