SISTER ACT
Joseph is an indie-pop duo comprising sisters Natalie and Meegan Closner, and you can see them live in Portland on May 2 at the State Theatre.
Until last year, Alison Closner, Meegan’s twin sister, was also part of the band.
In 2016, the infectious single “White Flag” hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart.
The track “Starting Over At the End,” was released last year, the first Joseph song with the band in duo form.
Tickets for Joseph are $28 in advance, $32 day of show. Get them at statetheatreportland.com.
NEIGHBORS UP NORTH
The musical “Come From Away” opens the season at Ogunquit Playhouse on May 15 and runs through June 15.
The show is based on the true story of the 38 planes that were forced to land at an airport in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, in the immediate aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
“Come From Away” is powerful, poignant and packed with songs like “Blankets and Bedding,” “Lead Us Out of the Night” and “Prayer.” Moments of levity are paired with a frightening, sorrowful time in human history, resulting in a show that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.
Tickets to “Come From Away” are $40-$120. Purchase yours at ogunquitplayhouse.com.
