A Portland man was stabbed multiple times Sunday morning outside Dyer’s Variety Store, according to police.

Officers were called to 45 Portland St. just before 6:30 a.m. and found a 45-year-old man with multiple stab wounds, police said.

The man, who was not identified, was taken to Maine Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Department spokesperson Brad Nadeau said investigators have identified a person of interest after interviewing multiple witnesses, but did not say if investigators believe that person knew the victim or what led to the stabbing. Nadeau declined to release the name of the victim and the person of interest.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 207-874-8575.
