The Maine Mariners signed former University of New England goalie Joey Stanizzi to an amateur tryout contract on Friday.

Stanizzi, 24, appeared in 15 games this season for the Nor’easters, posting a 9-5 record, a 2.48 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. He had four shutouts in three seasons with UNE.

Prior to playing at UNE, Stanizzi played two seasons for the North American Hockey League’s Northeast Generals.
