The Trois-Rivières Lions struck for two goals in the first 54 seconds of the second period, starting a five-goal outburst that carried them to a 6-4 win over the Maine Mariners in an ECHL game Friday night at Cross Insurance Arena.

The loss pushed the Mariners to the brink of playoff elimination. Maine is 10 points behind Worcester for fourth place in the North Division with five games remaining.

Sebastian Vidmar tallied a power-play goal and a short-handed goal for the Mariners after assisting on Robert Cronin’s first-period goal. Zachary Massicotte scored Maine’s final goal.
