Portland police removed a man’s body from the attic of a Grant Street building on Friday afternoon.

Police officers and members of the Portland Fire Department responded to the building at 55 Grant St. shortly before 4 p.m. and discovered an unidentified male deceased in the attic area, a Portland Police Department spokesman said Friday night. He said police continue to investigate but that the death does not appear to be suspicious.

Fire officials used a ladder truck to carry down what appeared to be a body bag, News Center Maine reported.

Grant Street runs parallel to Park Avenue, separated by one block from Deering Oaks park.
