Three Fryeburg Academy pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Raiders opened the high school baseball season Thursday with a 6-1 win at home against Gray-New Gloucester.

Brady Chappell pitched the first four innings for Fryeburg and yielded only a fourth-inning double by Jacob Mulry. Oliver Allocco followed with two hitless innings, and Oliver Dean closed out the win.

Dean, Alex Allain and Jagger Helwig each had two hits. David Rosales had three RBI with two sacrifice flies and a groundout.

CAPE ELIZABETH 6, POLAND 1: Jameson Bryant struck out 11 over five innings as the Capers won an opener against the Knights in Cape Elizabeth.

Joseph Grela led Cape’s offense with two double and two RBI.

Cade Johnson hit a double for the Knights.

GREELY 13, LAKE REGION 3: Ben Kyles and Kyle Soule each had two hits and two RBI, leading the Rangers to a five-inning victory in Cumberland.

Kyles also scored three times and Soule hit a triple. Keeler Vogt struck out seven and allowed three hits in four scoreless innings for Greely, which ended the game with the runs in the bottom of the fifth, after Lake Region extended the game by scoring three in the top half.

Jaiden Meehan and Noah Peterson each hit an RBI single for the Lakers.

WELLS 10, FREEPORT 0: Gage Sargent pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and also drove in three runs, leading the Warriors to a six-inning win at home.

Derek Martin and Owen Bonenfant each drove in two runs, and Caleb Moody belted a home run. Martin had a triple.

SACOPEE VALLEY 19, TRAIP ACADEMY 7: Silas Nielsen had three hits and four RBI, including a two-run homer, and the Hawks downed the Rangers in Kittery.

Bryce Stacey had two hits, scored three runs and stole three bases. Chase Parker and Bradly Metcalf also had two hits.

Parker pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief, striking out 10 and walking two.

SOFTBALL

GREELY 10, LAKE REGION 9: Quinn Simpson hit a walk-off single as the Rangers rallied for three runs in the seventh inning for a win over the Lakers in Cumberland.

After Katie Wallace (three hits) and Presley Allard doubled, Sophie Smith singled to tie it, then scored the winning run on Simpson’s hit.

Wallace and Allard each finished with two RBI.

Ava Cole, Haley Hamlin, Elsie Gibbons and Abigail Nadeau all had two hits for the Lakers. Cole and Dylan Libby each drove in two runs.

POLAND 16, CAPE ELIZABETH 3: Phoebe Paradis recorded 10 strikeouts and had four hits for the Knights in a win over the Capers in Cape Elizabeth.

Olivia Rioux added three hits and Carly Jarvais had two — a double and a triple — for Poland.

Molly McKibben hit a triple for Cape Elizabeth.

YORK 12, YARMOUTH 0: Sarah Orso pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and had two hits and three RBI as the Wildcats handled the Clippers in York.

Orso hit a two-run homer. Maddie Fitzgerald and Lindsay Rivers each had three hits with three RBI, and Maren Robinson had three hits and two RBI for York, which tallied 16 hits. Piper Catanese had two hits.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

WELLS 9, YORK 5: Caitlin Rooney scored four goals and set up another as the Warriors opened their season with a win over the visiting Wildcats.

Ellie Moore and Eloise Ouellette each added two goals, Jess Palmer was the other Wells goal scorer, and Payton Maxon had four assists. Wells goalie Carys Ramsey made 10 saves.

York got two goals apiece from Ava Fontaine and Sophia Lucette and one from Elouise McAllister.

WAYNFLETE 11, LAKE REGION 1: Lydia Birknes and Alex Leopold combined for nine goals as the Flyers cruised past the Lakers in their season opener, at Portland.

Birknes led the way with five goals. Skylar Harris and Leah Kramer each contributed one goal.

Erinn Green scored for Lake Region.

KENNEBUNK 10, WINDHAM 6: Camdyn Keenan paced the Rams with five goals and two assists in a season-opening win at Windham.

Ellie Nunan added two goals and two assists, and Anna McCarron had two goals and one assist. Julianna Urban was the other Kennebunk goal scorer.

Abby Trainor led Windham with four goals and two assists. Neve Ledbetter and Grace Joly also scored.

MARSHWOOD 17, BIDDEFORD 5: Maddy Poitras scored four goals, and Sarah Theriault and Anna Jennings combined for six goals and seven assists as the Hawks beat the Tigers in South Berwick.

Marshwood also got two goals apiece from Liv Drake, Jolie Folger and Tiegan Boisvert, and a goal and five assists from Evan Hersey.

Anna Johnson netted three goals and Abby Bouffard had two goals and an assist for Biddeford.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 6, MORSE 2: Miriam DeLisle had four goals and an assist as the Eagles beat the Shipbuilders in a season opener in Bath.

Samantha Kopp and Zofie Day also scored for Lincoln, while Ciara Stokes had seven saves.

Zoe Avery and Micah Wolf each had a goal, Sophia Prager had two assists, and Irelyn Lathan made 27 saves for Morse.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

WINDHAM 9, SCARBOROUGH 4: Lukas Hammond tallied three goals and an assist and Jack Henry added two goals and an assist for Windham.

Landon Baratta had a goal and an assist and Nick Harmon, Liam Sellinger and Wes Merrill also scored for Scarborough.
