Ruby (Jennings) Mungen

SCARBOROUGH – Forever in our hearts. Ruby (Jennings) Mungen passed away Jan. 29, 2026, at the Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough.

Ruby was born on March 8, 1934, in Orangeburg, S.C. to Luther Jennings and Rosa (Breland) Jennings. Ruby graduated from George Carver High School in South Carolina and moved to New York City, N.Y.

She met and married Alexander Mungen Sr. and raised five children in Brooklyn, N.Y. The family enjoyed traveling to parks and beaches. She was employed by New York City Health and Hospital Corporation, headquarters to Kings County Hospital and provided supervisor services in Patient Services.

Ruby was a devoted wife and mother and her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved cooking and was an excellent cook. Gardening was also one of her very favorite things to do. She spent a lot of time in Maine and would frequent Skillings, always looking for new things to grow.

She also shared a love for books with her granddaughter Kaylin; they would spend hours discussing books they both read as well as frequent trips to the library.
