Eli Wallach was the raspy-voiced character actor who starred in dozens of movies and Broadway plays over a remarkable and enduring career. He was best known for playing the Mexican outlaw Tuco in “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” At left, he acts in a scene from the 1964 film “Lord Jim.” He died Tuesday evening at 98.
