Police have charged a Portland man with the robbery Saturday night of Domino’s Pizza on Main Street in Gorham, but the suspect has not been connected to a string of armed robberies around Greater Portland in recent weeks.

Gorham Deputy Police Chief Christopher Sanborn said investigators charged Nathan Allen, 36, with armed robbery Sunday.

“At this time Mr. Allen has not been connected to any of the other armed robberies,” Sanborn said in a statement. “The Gorham police department is sharing information with the other law enforcement agencies that have been affected by the recent rash of robberies.”

The Domino’s robbery was similar to the string of 10 other armed holdups of area businesses. In each prior case, a man wearing heavy clothes and with hood and mask obscuring his face entered a business, showed a gun and demanded money, before fleeing on foot. Police believe the serial robber then leaves the area in a car.

The Gorham robber was described as wearing jeans, gray boxers and a gray sweatshirt. He was described as being 5-foot-7 and weighing about 150 pounds. Gorham police said the hood on his sweatshirt obscured his face.

He fled on foot from Domino’s and entered a vehicle that was parked at a nearby business.

Witnesses to the earlier robberies described the man as between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-9 with a thin build.

Law enforcement officials have said it’s too soon to say whether the Domino’s robbery is connected to the previous crimes.
