Emily Walsh is a 27-year-old attorney specializing in land use and small business law running for a seat on the Buxton Planning Board.

A Topsham native, Walsh graduated from Unity College in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental education and a focus in environmental policy. She earned her law degree from Maine Law and became a member of the Maine Bar in 2004.

Asked why she was running for the board, Walsh replied, “The fact that I haven’t had any civic involvement,” though her resume includes being a Maine Association of Public Interest Law Fellow, an intern at the Conservation Law Foundation, an extern with the University Counsel for The University of Maine System, as well as providing services to the Maine Department of Health and Human Resources and working as a senior planner with the Land Use Regulation Commission.

Walsh said she thinks being a member of the Planning Board would be a good use of her time and skills.
