Do we know where are teens are? This Sunday, Jan. 29, hundreds of them will be at Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, at 1 p.m. raising money for “Children of Peace.”
The Scarborough and South Portland Key Clubs, for the second year, have organized a polar dip to raise money for a cause they support. The teens have invited other local Key Clubs to join them. These young people are incredible!
Last year they challenged their school principals, teachers, coaches and families as well as friends to join them in the ocean on a Sunday in January! I don’t know how many will dip on Sunday, but I know three things: One, I will not dip. Two, the teens are serious about this and will reach their goal of $25,000, and three, there will be plenty of hot chocolate and coffee for the young and strong of heart who participate and the hundreds who will cheer them on.
Even if you are not a hardy soul who will dive into the ocean in Maine on Jan. 29, come and join the fun! Cheer them on! And, if the spirit moves and you agree with their goals to support the orphans of Vietnam, send a donation to Scarborough High School’s Key Club.
These are wonderful young people who want to change the World. Let’s help them.
For whatever you can do for them, I thank you, and God Bless!
