SACO — A Saco business owner has announced that she will run for a seat in the Maine House of Representatives District 15, which covers part of Saco.

Kathie Purdy, 60, is a former assistant store manager of the Saco Shaw’s supermarket, and runs Purdy Distributing with her husband. The couple has two grown children.

She is also vice president of the Saco Bay Center for Civic Engagement. In 2008, she served as a delegate to the Maine State Democratic Convention.

The House seat is currently held by Justin Chenette, D-Saco, who announced he will be running for Senate Seat 31, which is being vacated by Linda Valentino.

If elected, said Purdy, she wants to help others make decisions based on facts, not rhetoric.

She also said she wants to use her skills to build coalitions and partnerships, and help end divisiveness so that goals can be accomplished.
