PORTLAND – Shawnda Layla Coffin passed away peacefully on June 9, surrounded by family and love. She was born in Brunswick on May 26, 1976 to Kim Laramy and George Coffin. She grew up on Bailey and Orr’s Islands, a true Island Girl, attending Harpswell Island School and Mt. Ararat High School. She loved the islands, her family, and most especially her son, Jacob. She worked as an awesome waitress at several local restaurants. Shawnda lived with addiction for much of her life so it was particularly unfair that she died due to a burst aneurysm in her brain.

She will be so missed by her mother, Kim Laramy, her father, George Coffin, her stepmother, Jill Coffin, and her stepfather, Dan Laramy; brothers, Travis Laramy, Ian Coffin, Colin Coffin, and Kevin O’Connor, sister, Lisa Truden; Nana Alice Jarrell and Nanny Shirley Coffin. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends are all devastated at her loss.

A celebration of life will be held at Library Hall, Bailey Island on Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m.

Fair winds and following seas, Shawnda Layla, we all love you.

In lieu of flowers, please do as Shawnda did every day of her life – go and do something kind for someone.
