BANGOR (AP) — Stephen King is heading to Washington, D.C., this week to receive the National Medal of Arts.

The Bangor author will receive the honor from President Barack Obama on Thursday at the White House.

Earlier in the week, King travels to the Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to attend an event Wednesday with Lee Child in which they’ll discuss Child’s latest book in the Jack Reacher series.

He wraps up the week in New York City. He’s helping with the kickoff week of “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” with an appearance Friday at the Ed Sullivan theater.
