TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighthgrade baseball team played its first home game of the season Wednesday, rolling to a 19-8 victory over Auburn.
The game started with Auburn scoring first in the top of the opening frame, but the Mt. Ararat bats came alive, answering with four runs in the bottom of the first.
Mt. Ararat continued hitting the ball well throughout the game. Carson Taylor and Gage Armstrong contributed with key hits. Cody Bowker hit two home runs to fuel the Eagle offense, while Braedon Johnson and Landon Weaver scored runs late in the game.
On the defensive end, the Eagles had four pitchers throw. Ty Henke started the game. Bowker and Tucker Swanson came in to set up Ryan Robertson, who finished things off.
