GOULDSBORO (AP) — State police say the death of an eastern Maine couple appears to be a murder-suicide.
The bodies of 75-year-old Virginia Hutchins and 65- year-old Raymond Hutchins were found in their Gouldsboro home Thursday morning by a relative who went to check on them.
The bodies were found on the couch and a handgun was recovered at the scene.
Detectives say it appears that Raymond Hutchins shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.
Virginia Hutchins had been in poor health for some time and her husband was her full-time care giver.
Autopsies are scheduled.
