
The Maine State Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will bring the beauty and joy of the season to Portland’s Merrill Auditorium Saturday, November 29 through Sunday, December 7.
This year’s production will mark the final time Maine State Ballet’s revered principal dancer Janet Davis of Windham will dance the role of Sugar Plum Fairy. She has performed in Maine State Ballet’s Nutcracker for 35 years, 18 as the Sugar Plum Fairy. She will share the role with Rhiannon Pelletier of Raymond and Elizabeth Dragoni of Scarborough.
Maiki Saito of Scarborough will make his debut as the Cavalier, a part he will share with Maine State Ballet veteran, Glenn Davis of Windham. Nick Anderson, of Scarborough, will have his debut performance as the Nutcracker Prince.
Adrienne Pelletier of Raymond and Shannon Dunbar of Portland will share the role of Clara. Meanwhile collegiate level gymnast and international artistic performer Matthew Abboud of Dayton will entertain the audience as the lead of the Chinese Tea dance.
Performances of Maine State Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will be held Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.; Friday Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.; Saturday Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
