Our father, Benton V. Sturgeon, recently passed away after a long illness. For the last 16 months, he had resided at Winship Green Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Bath. We were hesitant to place him there at first. However, we needed to have him where he could be properly taken care of and where we could be close enough to visit him regularly. We decided to give Winship Green a chance and it turned out to be just the right place for him and for us.

The staff was very professional, but more than that, they were very caring. The administrators, RNs, CNAs, and therapists were top notch. Our family was invited to participate in regular reviews of Dad’s situation. Any questions or concerns were properly and promptly addressed. The staff members who handled activities, meals, maintenance, and housekeeping were always friendly and respectful to him while completing their jobs.

Dad had dementia, so most of his time was spent in Stewart Hall, the dementia/ Alzheimer’s unit. It became his home away from home. He felt secure there. He might not remember from one day to the next who was taking care of him, but he knew someone he could trust was nearby when he needed them. Each encounter that he had with a staff member was handled with the utmost respect and with loving care. In fact, they treated him like he was their own father or grandfather. A family cannot ask for more when they place a loved one in such a facility.

The list would be too long to try to recognize everyone individually. We tried to show our appreciation with each interaction that we had with staff members. Our family would not hesitate to choose this facility again. In fact, we have another family member there receiving long-term care. That is the best recommendation that we can give. Thank you Winship Green for taking care of our Dad!
