BRUNSWICK — As part of its ongoing Ounce of Prevention Series, Mid Coast Senior Health Center will host a presentation titled “Palliative Care: getting the most out of your healthcare?” from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 10, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center, located at 58 Baribeau Dr. in Brunswick.
The presentation — to be given by Jessica Vickerson, palliative care nurse practitioner at Mid Coast Hospital — will address the role of palliative care in helping people obtain the highest quality of life while interfacing with the medical system. Palliative care helps patients and their families manage the pain, symptoms, and stress of a serious illness, adding an extra layer of support for families and patients living with serious illness. This program will offer strategies, tools and resources for managing health, working with healthcare providers, and identifying healthcare goals and wishes.
The Ounce of Prevention is a monthly series providing education about health and healthcare issues sponsored by Mid Coast Senior Health Center.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
