NEWCASTLE — Music, art, champagne, delicious food and a lovely venue to enjoy … what could be a better way of spending a few hours Saturday, September 13, at the annual Champagne on the Sheepscot event. This year the location is a historic saltwater farm in Newcastle on the Marsh River, a tributary of the Sheepscot. The time is 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event is the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association’s major fundraiser of the year.
The music this year is supplied by the five-member Narrow Gauge String Band, known for its catchy tunes.
A group of local artists will be showing paintings and other art for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to SVCA.
If you wish to participate, please call contact the SVCA at (207) 586- 5616, [email protected] or visit our website at www.sheepscot.org. Tickets are $40 or $125 to become a patron of the event. September 5 is the deadline.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
