BRUNSWICK — A Marine flare demonstration is scheduled to be held on June 27 at the Mere Point Boat Ramp.
The public is invited to bring their expired marine flares to this event. If you have never used a flare, this is the opportunity to get free hands-on training. From 3-6 p.m., boaters are welcome to bring their vessels by water or on trailers to the boat launching facility for a free check of required federal and state safety equipment.
This event is sponsored by Wawenock Sail & Power Squadron and the Brunswick Marine Resource Department. For questions or more details, contact John McMullen, Wawenock Education Officer, at [email protected] or 433- 7848.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
