DAMARISCOTTA
On June 7 from 8-10 a.m. the Chapman-Hall House Stewardship Committee will hold an information and update meeting for all their docents and anyone interested in volunteering at the house.
The historic site, dated to 1754, is the oldest house still in existence in Damariscotta. Docents conduct tours of the house, sharing with visitors information about the home life of the early residents as well as history of Midcoast Maine.
The house opens for the summer season on June 11 with a special set of presentations on June 11 and 12 titled “Three Traditions.”
Those who enjoy history, volunteering and visiting with people from all over the country should attend the June 7 meeting and learn more about the work of the Chapman-Hall House Stewardship Committee and the job of being a docent. Refreshments will be served.
Chapman-Hall House is located at 270 Main St., Damariscotta. Lincoln County Historical Association is a non-profit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman- Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
