
ICON Contemporary Art in Brunswick is showing the work of husband and wife painters Laura Duerwald and Steven Alexander through June 25.
Duerwald was a resident grant recipient at the Vermont Studio School this past winter, and she won the First Place Painting award at Scranton’s Northeast Biennial in 2015. A former graphic designer and illustrator who has returned to painting, Duerwald’s ICON contributions are a mix of both large and small oil and mixed media works.
Alexander has participated in exhibitions both solo and group. He is represented by the David Findlay Jr. Gallery in New York and has also had recent solo shows in Houston, Dallas and Santa Fe. His recent paintings at ICON, both large and small, are acrylic on canvas or linen.
The Duerwald/Alexander show opens on Saturday, May 28 with a reception from 4-6 p.m. ICON is located at 19 Mason St. in Brunswick. Gallery hours are weekdays 1-5 p.m. and Saturdays 1-4 p.m. and by appointment.
