BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick High School boys tennis team advanced in the Eastern Maine Class A playoffs with a 4-1 quarterfinal win over Lewiston on Thursday.
The second-seeded Dragons (12-1) will host No. 3 Hampden Academy (11-2), a 5-0 victory over sixth-seeded Skowhegan, on Thursday in the Eastern A semifinals. The match is slated to be held on Saturday.
Brunswick won both doubles matches, as Cormick Gaughran and Angelo Gerardi held on for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Ben Ferrence and Sam Zashut at No. 1 doubles. In the No. 2 doubles slot, Dragons Ollie Smith and Xander Knox swept their way to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Karter Carney and R.J. Adil.
In singles, Cole Ouellette scored the lone point for the Blue Devils with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ross Munn at No. 1 singles.
But, Dasol Kim and Joel Soloway both won in straight sets for Brunswick. Kim downed Evan Gosselin at the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-1, and Soloway cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles.
Brunswick is 12-1, including a 4-1 win over Hampden Academy on May 12.
Also, the Wiscasset boys fell to Monmouth, 5-0, on Tuesday, while the Wiscasset girls dropped a 5-0 decision to Hall- Dale in Western C quarterfinal play on Thursday.
