BATH — Dylan Crowell scored eight goals, and the Morse High School boys lacrosse team picked up 14 assists on its 16 goals in a 16-10 Eastern Maine Class B victory over rival Gardiner on Tuesday at McMann Field.
Oliver Kruze dished out three assists, added three goals and scooped up a gamehigh 13 groundballs in the win. Perry Chase also had the hat trick, and Alec Beveridge picked up six points with one goal and five assists. Also scoring for the Shipbuilders were Kevin Feeney (one goal, one assist), Myles Day (two assists, five groundballs), Wesley McKenna (one assist) and Jake Reno (one assist). Long-stick midfielder Kevin Tolan had a solid game with nine groundballs.
“Our season is built on a ‘quick-strike’ philosophy, creating as many unsettled scenarios as possible,” said Morse coach Jay Paulus, whose Shipbuilders are 5-0 and visit Mountain Valley on Thursday. “Our ability to move the ball in the air quickly created shooting opportunities for our off-ball players.
“The lacrosse doubleheader (the Morse girls won the opener, 8-4) was sponsored and made possible by First Federal Savings.”
Kevin Thibodeau had 11 saves in the win.
