Once upon a time, it was said that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Today, abortion is anything but. One area where abortion is still rare is late in pregnancy – typically after a baby is viable; when not only can they live outside the womb, but they also feel pain, and we can see them react to pain when viewing an ultrasound.

Public polling has shown that 65% of the public opposes abortion after the first trimester. Late-term abortions are rare. Let’s keep it that way.

There is a bill in the Maine Legislature that seeks to allow abortion right up to birth.

Did you know that, at 10 weeks old, a baby’s hands are perfectly formed? At 18 to 20 days, the foundation of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system are laid. At 21 days, the heart begins to beat. Some people think the baby’s life begins at birth, but life’s journey begins before he or she is born.

Please contact our lawmakers in Augusta and tell them to vote “No” on expanding abortion.
