Roger Guest
SACO – Beloved brother, son and friend, Roger Guest passed away April 5, 2023.
Roger was born April 11, 1959, in Lawrence, Mass. to Gordon and Charlotte Guest. Roger grew up in Topsfield, Mass. and attended Masconomet Regional High School. Growing up, he enjoyed pond hockey with neighborhood friends and skiing in the winter and fishing and hunting the rest of the year.
After high school he earned a certificate in culinary arts from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. and graduated from a two-year culinary arts program at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute. He was a gifted chef working in many restaurants on the North Shore.
Eventually he moved to the Florida Keys with his companion, Linda McCormick, where he continued to work as a chef at Montego Bay Dip & Deli.
After many years in the keys, they moved to Rockland to be closer to Linda’s grandchildren. Roger continued to work as a chef at the Navigator Hotel before opening The Hub Deli and Sub. Linda and Roger raised their Yorkie “fur babies” until Linda passed away.
For the past 10 years Roger has lived in Saco. Pine Point beach was his happy place and often could be seen walking the beach, any time of year.
Roger struggled with addiction for many years, but he was very proud of recently receiving his medallion for being eight years sober. Our family will be forever grateful for the support Community Housing of Maine and specifically the Nye Street Community gave Roger.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Charlotte and companion Linda.
He is survived by his sisters Laurie Marchegiani and her husband Jerome, North Andover, Mass., Gretchen Newberry, and her husband Mark Tallahassee, Fla., Oceanna Guest, Virginia and Betsey Guest-Natale and her husband Jerry, Haverhill, Mass.; and many nephews and a niece.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held in May. Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco is entrusted with his services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roger’s memory to:
