Photojournalist – Morning Sentinel
The Maine Trust for Local News is seeking a skilled and professional photojournalist to join its newsroom staff for the Morning Sentinel newspaper in Waterville, Maine, and Centralmaine.com. This photojournalist will cover a wide variety of subject matter through compelling visual storytelling. From spot news, to sports, business, features and long-term projects, this position requires a mixture of technical skills, strong news judgment and situational tenacity. The photojournalist must be able to work collaboratively with editors and reporters to achieve the best possible pictures on tight deadlines, while interacting professionally with staff and the broader public. Video skills are a plus as well, to complement stories that call for more than photos only. Applicants must also be willing to work nights and weekends, with this position focusing heavily on in-season high school sports assignments. This photojournalist will also be encouraged to pursue their own photo projects, in consultation with the supervising editor, that use visual storytelling to illuminate a trend or issue.
The Morning Sentinel prides itself on watchdog journalism and high standards of professionalism. We are an equal-opportunity employer. Applicants should email a cover letter, resume and a photo portfolio to Managing Editor Scott Monroe: smonroe@centralmaine.com.
