    Marian Bergkamp is the daughter of Isabella Borrero and Paul Bergkamp. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of the National Honors Society, a recipient of the Princeton Book Award, and a National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar. Marian is also on the varsity volleyball team, editor of The Mast school newspaper, and a leader of the Service Club. She has been in The Theatre Company for four years, and received two All-Festival Cast Awards this year. Marian has spent time volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House, Oceanview Retirement Homes, and spent a month working with an underprivileged community in Peru. Marian will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall where she plans to study neuroscience.

    Dana Bloch is the daughter of Richard Frost and Emily Bloch. She has been recognized for excellence in history, biology, Spanish, English, and ceramics, is an AP Scholar, and a member of the National Honors Society. Dana received the Boston College Book Award and the Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award, and was selected for the Maine Youth Leadership Conference, Girls State, and the DAR Good Citizen award from Falmouth High School. Dana is a member of the High School Civics Club, the Science Olympiad team, and Model United Nations, as well as the captain of the varsity volleyball and Nordic ski teams. She enjoys spending time outdoors, tutoring peers, teaching sailing, and laughing with friends. Dana will be attending Bowdoin College in the fall where she plans to study biology, especially marine biology, and studio art.

    Caitlin Bucksbaum is the daughter of Mark and Marianne Bucksbaum. She is an AP Scholar and two-time winner of Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. She has earned four Varsity letters in soccer and was co-captain senior year. Caitlin was also named Portland Press Herald Player of the Year, and is an All-State and All New England player. She has also received varsity letters in cross country, alpine skiing and Nordic skiing. She has been chosen as a Maine Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship recipient. Caitlin’s senior project helped to raise awareness of hunger through a version of “empty bowls” project at FES. She is part of FHS service club, an executive board member, and has spent hours volunteering to coach soccer with her club team. She will play soccer for Villanova University and major in Biochemistry.

    Sophie Chaney is the daughter of Larry and Cyndy Chaney. She has been an honors and AP student in math, science, history, English, and French and is a member of the National Honor society. She has been a four-year member of the theatre company and has participated heavily in the musical arts throughout high school. She also played volleyball for her freshman and sophomore years and has competed with the vocal jazz group since sophomore year. Sophie volunteers as a tutor at the high school and works at a local toy store. She has also been a member of Musica de Filia, a Portland-area choral group, for ten years. Sophie loves reading, art, music, poetry, sailing, animals, and flea markets. Sophie will attend Northeastern University in the fall where she plans to study biology.

    Cassandra Darrow is the lucky daughter of Fernanda and Mitchell Darrow. Cassie’s happiest high school memories include being a part of the Godspell cast, rollerblading with friends, getting to know her fascinating teachers, running, working in Guatemala, kayaking with her papa, adventuring with her sister and Argentine family, serving the community with her soccer team, playing the trombone, and spending time with her beautiful best friends, Sophie, Dana, Sara and Jessie. Cassie plans to take a gap year in which she will run a soccer/empowerment clinic for girls in Argentina and volunteer at Safe Passage in Guatemala City before attending Yale University in the fall of 2014. She would like to thank her family, Falmouth Schools and the entire community for their immense support

    Elijah Dewey is the son of Michele and Dayle Dewey. He has been recognized for excellence in math, science, English, and Spanish. He has been a Maine State swimming qualifier for four years on the Falmouth varsity swim team. He also has been a year round swimmer for the Westbrook Seals Swim Club. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Elijah will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall and will major in nuclear engineering.

    Lauriana Gaudet is the daughter of John and Susan Gaudet. She has been recognized for excellence in algebra, geometry, biology, world history, English, Spanish, religious studies, achievement in physical science and is a recipient of St. Michael's College Book Award for Academic Achievement and Social Conscience. Throughout high school, Lauriana enjoyed involvement in theatre, Service Club, Chamber Singers and the Math Team. Lauriana will attend Lyndon State College majoring in atmospheric sciences.

    Alexander Han is the son of Paul and Cindy Han. He has been given honors in science, music, math, English and French, and is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a Presidential Scholar nominee. He is active in the school’s concert band, jazz band, pit band and jazz combo, and has been given individual recognition at the regional and state levels in addition to being selected for District II and All-State Jazz Festivals. Alex is also active in the school’s science and math teams, and participated in Indoor Track and Ultimate Frisbee. He spent a summer as a research intern at Bowdoin College's Neuroscience Department. He was recently selected to receive the Clyde Russell Scholarship’s top award. Alex will attend Brown University in the fall, where he plans to major in cognitive science.

    Azad Jalali is the son of Reza Jalali and Jaleh Hojjati. He is the valedictorian of the Class of 2013. A national merit finalist and scholarship recipient, Azad has been recognized for his success in English, biology, chemistry, statistics, and Spanish, and also received the Yale Book Award. He has been a twelve-season participant in the varsity cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track programs at Falmouth. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar and listening to music. Azad will attend Case Western Reserve University in the fall, where he plans to study engineering.

    An energetic discus thrower and french horn player, Shreyas Joshi is the son of Venkatesh and Laxmi Joshi. He is a member of the National Honor Society, an RPI medalist, a National AP Scholar, and has won the Siemen’s Award for Advanced Placement. In addition to being a 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do, he is also the captain of the outdoor track team, and volunteers as a coach for the local youth track and field program. This fall, he will attend Princeton University, where he will be studying either Aerospace Engineering or Economics.

    Isaac Mersonis the son of Elizabeth Rudenberg and Dan Merson. He is the salutatorian of his class and has been given honors for English, French, and history as well as receiving the St. Michael's College Book Award. He is also a member of the National Honor Society, an AP Commended Scholar, and a National Merit Commended Scholar. He's participated in Theatre, Cross Country, Nordic Skiing, Ultimate Frisbee, Natural Helpers, and the Gay Straight Alliance among other activities. He's volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the Wayside Evening Soup Kitchen, and in various projects through the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church. His razor sharp wit has left many a foe weeping, and in his free time he enjoys funk music. In the fall he will attend Bowdoin College where he plans to major in the social sciences.

    Madeleine Paradis is the daughter of Tim and Wendy Paradis. She is an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. She has been recognized for excellence in French and she spent the spring semester of her sophomore year near Paris, France through AFS. She is a three-year member of the swim team and has participated in many Falmouth Theatre Company productions. She has spent time volunteering for AFS, for the University of Maine School of Law’s Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic providing pro bono translation services for the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic, and for Horse and Rider Connection/the Maine Mustang Project. In her free time, she has been taking classes in Italian, horseback riding and playing piano. Madeleine will attend the University of Virginia in the fall and plans to major in foreign affairs.

    Abby Payson is the daughter of Mike and Sue Payson. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has been recognized as an AP Scholar, and by FHS for excellence in math and writing in US history. She has been a four-year varsity member of the cross country, ice hockey and tennis teams, serving as co-captain for all three teams. She has been an all-conference selection for all three sports, contributing to regional championships in cross country and hockey, and three state championships in tennis. This year Abby received the Hobey Baker Character Award for Falmouth girls’ ice hockey. In 2012 Abby was selected for the MERITS summer internship program sponsored by the Maine Space Grant Consortium. She has been a member of Big Buddies, the Service Club and math team and is the founder of the Annual Fun Day to benefit Opportunity Skate and FHS girls’ ice hockey. During the summer Abby has enjoyed serving as a Junior Volunteer at Maine Medical Center and teaching tennis to children. She will be attending Haverford College in the fall where she plans to study biology or chemistry and play varsity tennis.

    Aaron Peterson-Greenberg is the son of Stanley Greenberg and Julie Peterson. He is an AP Scholar with Honors and has been recognized for achievement in physics, chemistry, and math. Aaron is a member of Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, Zero Robotics, and Math Team. During the school year, he plays for the FHS Ultimate team, and outside of school he hikes and alpine skis. Aaron enjoys playing bluegrass and newgrass music on the banjo, is an avid player of various board games, and is working towards earning A+ Certification. Aaron plans to attend Tufts University in the fall and major in engineering physics.

    Seamus Powers is the son of James and Peggy Powers. He is a National Merit finalist, an AP Scholar with Honor, a recipient of the Bowdoin College Book Award, and the Junior English Scholar Award. He attended Dirigo Boys State in 2012. He is a member of the Model U.N. team and the Debate team. He has volunteered in the school's tutoring center for the past three years. Seamus is an avid Hip-Hop and sports fan and writes about these interests in the school newspaper, "The Mast". He plays football and Baseball. He was named to the First Team All-Conference 2012 in baseball and awarded the Campbell Conference Academic Achievement Award 2012 in football. Seamus will attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.

    Emma Sapat is the daughter of Viren Sapat and Jessie Grearson. She is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of the National Honor Society, and has just been named a Presidential Scholar Semi-finalist. An enthusiastic member of the debate team and co-captain of Lincoln-Douglass debate for the last two years, she has participated in national tournaments held at Harvard and Columbia and has won qualifying spots to attend the National and the Catholic Forensic League tournaments. This year, she was honored by the debate community as Maine’s Student of the Year and will attend the national debate tournament in Birmingham, Alabama this June. Emma has received the Dartmouth book award and awards in the Social Sciences, French and English. She enjoys writing poetry and attended the Breadloaf Young Writer’s Conference. In her spare time, Emma enjoys reading, working at the European Bakery, and thinking up bagel recipes. Emma will attend Yale University in the fall and plans to study political science, ethics, and economics.

    Hayley Simmons is the daughter of Sherri and Jeffrey Simmons. She is founder and president of Falmouth High School’s first Civics Club, and co-editor of the school newspaper. She is a three-season varsity distance runner, and was a captain of both the cross-country and indoor track teams. Since her freshman year she has been a participant in the District II choir festival. She is also a member of Falmouth High School’s Chamber choir. In 2012, she was a recipient of the Williams Book Award and of the Maine Historical Society’s annual award. She is also a member of the National Honors Society. Throughout high school she was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and in the winter of her junior year she traveled to Mississippi to help Habitat build homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Hayley is attending St. Lawrence University in the fall, where she intends to explore her interests in music and English.

    Tom Wilberg is the son of Anne Marie and Jim Wilberg. He is a National Merit Commended Scholar, an AP Scholar with honors, a member of the National Honor Society and a 2013 US Presidential Scholar Candidate. He has earned recognition in both math and science. He has been actively tutoring fellow students throughout his high school career. Tom has earned a total of nine varsity letters in three different sports (basketball, soccer, tennis) while being a member of teams that won five state championships. As a junior he was selected to the WMC tennis all-star team. As a senior he was selected to the WMC all-academic soccer team. As a senior he was co-captain and co-MVP of the Class B state championship basketball team. He was selected to the all-state academic basketball team and was the recipient of the MABC-McDonald’s all-state academic scholarship award. He is the Falmouth Forecaster male winter athlete of the year for 2012-2013. He will be attending and playing basketball at the University of Chicago in the fall and is currently undecided regards his major field of study.

    Zachary Winkeler is the son of Timothy and Tracy Winkeler. His favorite color is blue, and his least favorite jellybean flavor is buttered popcorn. Zach enjoys learning new words, and definitely does not suffer from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. He is a member of the poetry club, and is often found writing haikus about throwing things out of windows. Zach will attempt to make noise with any musical instruments left alone in a room with him, but for now plays only saxophone, ocarina, ukulele, and piano. He and a friend once won a bronze medal in a Science Olympiad competition with instruments made of PVC. He can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under two minutes on a good day; on a bad day it usually takes him longer just to find his Rubik’s Cube. Zach is also a member of the Math Team, and his favorite number is 23 (for unknown reasons). He will be attending Northeastern University in the fall, hoping to major in mathematics and chemistry.
