A skate park on Peaks Island that was built without permits is going to be removed.
A skate park on Peaks Island was built in 2012 on land that is owned by the Peaks Island Land Preserve and where permanent structures are prohibited by an easement.
Jackman Wood, a lifelong Peaks Island resident, and some of his friends built the park out of their frustration over the lack of action by the city and island officials to provide a place for residents to skate.
Some Peaks Island residents question why the skate park has to be removed since it's not hindering any development or blocking the transfer of any land.
