Ford Reiche, who has been restoring Halfway Rock Lighthouse to federal historic standards since acquiring it two years ago, motors out to a larger boat while leaving the "Rock." The remote lighthouse gets its name from its location in the middle of Casco Bay, halfway between Cape Elizabeth and Cape Small, on a 2-acre ledge 10 miles out to sea.
The light station is part of the Nationals Register of Historic Places.
