A security camera in the first-floor stairwell of Franklin Towers monitors activity. Some residents of Maine's tallest building have worried more about safety since a man was stabbed there this month.
Dave Caston Sr., 58, rides an elevator down to his second-floor apartment in Franklin Towers. He said, "I know some elderly women won't come on the elevator at night because they're scared of getting mugged."
Dave Caston Sr. locks his apartment door behind him with a specially designed lock. He uses a key on the bottom of the solid metal part to keep the chain in place even under pressure.
