The temperature in Portland climbed to 66 degrees, blowing past the record of 55 degrees set just four years ago. The highest temperature recorded by the National Weather Service for the day was 71 in Fryeburg, with Lewiston a close second with 70.

    MARCH 12: Falmouth's saxophone section performs during the Maine High School Jazz Festival held at South Portland High School. At the end of the day, South Portland and Westbrook won first and second places, respectively, in the Division I category. Greely and Hampden Academy were first and second in Division II. In Division III, Mount Desert Island won first and Old Town second. And in Division IV, first place was George Stevens Academy and Ellsworth took second.
