High winds tore the roof off Portland United Methodist Church in Portland. Michigan, on Monday. The National Weather Service confirmed late Monday that Portland had been hit with a tornado rated EF1 with winds of around 100 mph. The tornado was part of a severe storm system that hurtled into Michigan's Lower Peninsula after rushing across the nation's Midwest.
