Top three priorities
1) Bring the community together to support the students, all ages. Example: Set up a time for the children and parents to meet each other in a fun safe environment.
2) Focus on increasing school grades and tracking grades for each school on a quarterly basis.
3) School attendance is key. Find the reason and help in any way we can.
Why are you running?
School starts at home. Kindness and discipline will help teachers to educate instead of constant intervention. Many students can’t focus, it also will help to learn in a safe environment. Not all children have an easy home life. The tone of voice can trigger happiness vs. tension in schools.
What is the biggest challenge facing your community? The biggest opportunity?
Tax increases are causing some people to go without medication or food and be isolated.
If you could change one thing about how your local schools function, what would it be and why?
In person face-to-face talking vs texting. Parents need to connect in the community. To do this, we need an easy website to find opportunities. There is a group for aging seniors in town — how to engage them to participate? Young and old don’t have the internet. When meals are distributed, create “What is happening” in our town, including time and date. There may be people in your area that would be happy to pick you up for events. Maybe pairing with a student or adult.
