The Standish Town Council is composed of seven members. It serves as the policymaking board of the city, and it has the power to hire and fire the city manager. Town council members serve three-year terms.

Area 2 comprises the west and northwest parts of the city, stretching from the Baldwin and Limington borders to the intersection of Oak Hill Road and Boundary Road.
