Three voting machines at one of Sanford’s polling places malfunctioned for two hours Tuesday morning. Town Clerk Sue Cote said the three machines, at the Ward 2 polling place at St. Ignatius Parish Hall at 25 Riverside Ave., were not working between 8-10 a.m. due to a human error.
While the machines were not working, ballots were placed in a bin attached to the machines designed to hold the ballots should the machines not work. Once Cote arrived and turned on the machines correctly, all of the ballots in the bin were processed.
She said some voters were concerned about their ballots, but she said there was no fraud, just a machine malfunction due to human error. She said voting went smoothly otherwise.
