Ravin was not able to score on this first period play, but the Red Storm held on to beat the Bulldogs 4-3. Scarborough finished with an 11-6-1 regular season record and the No. 5 seed going into the Class A playoffs. The Storm destroyed No. 12 Bonny Eagle 11-0 in a prelim game on Feb. 21 and then were eliminated by No. 4 St. Dom’s with a 7-4 loss in a quarterfinal game in Lewiston on Feb. 24.

Manning, Jackson, marquis:

The Scarborough girls finished with a 16-2 regular season record and the No. 2 seed in the Class A tournament. The Storm girls ran to a big 53-26 win over No. 7 South Portland in a quarterfinal game on Feb. 16, but were upended by No. 3 Biddeford in a close 32-29 loss in the semifinals at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Feb. 20.

Tuma and k. philbrick:

Scarborough’s Peter Tuma (32) and Kevin Philbrick (40) box out Windham’s Carlton Charles as they all look up for a rebound during a game in Windham in December. The Storm boys made the playoffs as the No. 9 seed after posting an 8-10 regular season record. The Storm fell to No. 8 Biddeford 55-38 in a prelim game on Feb. 10.

New state record

The Scarborough girls 4 X 200 meter relay team of Nicole Kirk (freshman), Jenna Van Dam (senior), Lauren Blaisdell (senior), and Rachelle Greene (sophomore) set a state record of 1:48.71 at the Class A state championships last month. The Scarborough girls indoor track team won its fifth consecutive Class A state championship at the meet. It was a clean sweep for the Red Storm, as the Scarborough boys also won the state championship last month.
