The Second Annual Spring Cleaning of Scarborough Marsh and Beaches will be held on Earth Day this year, April 22.

This year there are 10 sites, from Pine Point to Black Point, for volunteers to gather and make a difference. Volunteers are asked to save the date. Look for more information by the end of March.

Volunteers are needed at all 10 sites, but there are three sites, along Route 1 and Black Point Road, which will be restricted to adults. There is always a need for more volunteers to clean up along Route 1. Traffic control is provided by the town.

The Scarborough Spring Cleaning is a collaboration with the town and a number of organizations, including the Friends of Scarborough Marsh, the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust, the Scarborough Conservation Commission, Pine Point Association, Maine Audubon, Eastern Trail Alliance, Girl Scouts of Kennebec County, Scarborough Area Chamber of Commerce, Higgins Beach Association, Ecos (the environmental club of Scarborough High School), Saco Bay Trails, the Scarborough Garden Club, and the U.S. Natural Resource Conservation Service.

If your organization would like to provide volunteers for this effort and be included in upcoming advertising, please contact Susan DeWitt Wilder at [email protected] or 883-6050.
