A common summer sight: boys on bikes. These two are taking a break in front of Freeman’s Hotel and Store which was located on the corner of Route 35 and 302 in North Windham. The boys are Charlie Field (left) and Alden Pike, according to what’s written on the face of the picture. There is no date on this old photo, but Charlie Field was killed on July 19, 1918 during World War I. Windham’s Field-Allen School was named for him and a cousin, James Allen.
