BUXTON — A suspect is facing charges in a recent shotgun shooting that hospitalized a Hollis man with what state police called serious wounds.
Police Chief Troy Cline and Cpl. Francis Pulsoni arrested Brandon Lasante of Buxton, 19, at 7 p.m. Monday outside of the Town Hall. Lasante was arrested without incident on a warrant that set bail at $250,000 cash. Conditions included that he have no direct or indirect contact with the victim identified by police as Lincoln Kimball, 28, of Hollis.
Lasante, according to a police press release, was charged with aggravated attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault, both Class A crimes.
Local police and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit investigated the shooting incident at 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 6 on Old Orchard Road. Police said Kimball was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was first listed in critical condition.
“Kimball was struck with several pellets from a shotgun,” according to a state police press release issued Tuesday. “He is making a slow recovery and was interviewed by detectives last week in his hospital room.”
Hospital spokesman Clay Holztman said Tuesday it had no patient by that name.
Police said the shooting occurred in front of Lasante’s home.
“After consulting with the Attorney General’s Office and the York County District Attorney’s Office, the decision was made (Monday) to charge Lasante,” McCausland’s release said.
State police detectives obtained the arrest warrant.
“Cpl. Pulsoni transported Lasante to the York County Jail,” Cline said.
A spokesman at the jail said Wednesday morning that Lasante was still there and was being held with bail set at $20,000 cash plus surety of $100,000.
