STANDISH — Arthur L. Seavey, 59, of Standish, died unexpectedly on Feb. 5, 2015.
He was born July 16, 1955, son of the late Harold E. Seavey and Rena (Smith) Seavey. He was born in Connecticut but lived many years in Sanford.
He was employed by Suburban Propane of Portland at the time of his death and was well-known as a man who spoke his mind. He was appreciated and even loved by many of his customers, especially by the elderly for the generous giving of his time and support.
He is survived by: his wife of 20 years, Marthalyn Seavey of Standish; his stepson, Michael J. Lippa of Raymond; step-grandson, Michael A. Lippa of South Portland; stepdaughter Katherine Lippa of Portland; sisters, Anne Seavey Raymond of Waterboro, Claudia Ryan of Saco; brother, David E. Seavey of Kennebunk; and nieces, nephew, aunt and cousins as well.
Arthur was a gentle giant of a man. He had an engaging smile and contagious laugh and will be terribly missed by his family, friends and acquaintances that appreciated and loved him. He was and always will be the love of Marthalyn’s life.
Per his wishes, there will be no formal funeral. In lieu of flowers, consider donations in memory of Arthur to your local Salvation Army, or your choice of programs for the homeless.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
