BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College men’s cross country team took first while the women placed second in their only home meet of the season Saturday afternoon at the Bowdoin Invitational.

The Polar Bear men totaled 27 team points to easily win the 10-team field, followed in second place by Tufts (59).

The Bowdoin women were second with 52 points to Tufts, which claimed the crown with 19.

 
 
Ben Wallis of Tufts won the individual men’s 8K race in 25:28.52, while Olivia Beltrani took the women’s 6K race in 22:40.26.

The Bowdoin men finished with five runners in the top-nine teams to spur the squad to victory. Nicholas Saba was the top Polar Bear, taking second in 26:00.23 while James Boeding was right behind him in the third spot with a time of 26:08.47. Kevin Hoose (5th, 26:24.13), Will Ossoff (8th, 26:34.99) and Avery Wentworth (26:39.99) rounded out the Bowdoin scorers.

Bowdoin’s Lucy Skinner was the lone athlete to break up the Tufts logjam in the top-eight finishers as she took second place with a time of 22:45.12. Madelena Rizzo was ninth overall with a time of 23:33.74. Brenna Fischer (15th, 24:17.05), Reaha Goyetche (21st, 24:31.05) and Ally Fulton (23rd, 24:40.90) were the other top-five finishers for the Polar Bears.
