PHIPPSBURG

A woman who had been swimming Sunday afternoon at Morse Mountain Beach got caught in a rip tide but suffered no serious injuries, Phippsburg police Officer Andy Anderson said this morning.

Anderson said he did not have the name of the woman, who was visiting from Canada and was rescued by her son and another onlooker. Phippsburg Fire and Rescue was able to get the woman ashore, and take her Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Anderson said. Rescue workers were called at 2 p.m.

“She had been underwater for some time,” Anderson said. “She was coughing up sea water. But she didn’t lose consciousness.”
