BRUNSWICK — Gerald W. Sanford, 55, of Brunswick, Maine, died on Feb. 20, 2015, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Son of Beverly (Knight) Ouellette and Norman Sanford, Gerald was one of the first born at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick on Dec. 8, 1959.

He attended Brunswick High School and completed his education while in the United States Marine Corps. Upon honorable discharge, Gerald worked as a local clam digger and a self-employed handyman for over 30 years.

He was a true New Englander and loyal Patriots and WBLM fan. Gerald was a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed the outdoors; camping, gardening, fishing, and landscaping. In particular, he enjoyed spending time at the family camp on the New Meadows River boating and fishing. He loved animals and had many pets over the years, including a pet raccoon. He was a good friend to many and will be remembered for his kindness and generosity.

He is survived by his mother, sisters Pamela Ouellette of Topsham, Lisa Ouellette of Edgecomb, Donna Ouellette of Brunswick, brother Dean Ouellette of Brunswick, stepmother Betty Sanford of West Bath, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, brother Gregory Sanford, sister Nancy Ann Ouellette, and stepfather Donald

“Pete” Ouellette.

Gerald’s family would like to thank the staff at the Veteran’s Hospital at Togus and the Maine- General Medical Center for their unwavering care and compassion. A burial service will take place in the spring followed by a celebration of life at the family camp.
