On behalf of the Catholic Charities SEARCH Program of Greater Bath ( formerly know as the Greater Bath Elder Outreach Network), I would like to thank all of the community members and donors who made our 10th Anniversary Celebration a success last Tuesday. We had a lovely event at the Bath Senior Center, with the help of Richard Higgins. Our Advisory Committee members Will Neilson, Marnie Hackenberg, Linda Hjortland, Sally Kelley, and Amy Carmichael provided refreshments and kitchen help as well as setting up and cleaning. Musician Stuart Gillespie entertained us with folk songs and his guitar!
We are blessed to have businesses in the Bath/ Brunswick area who know the true meaning of community. These local businesses generously donated gift cards, making the event more festive for our clients and volunteers: Solo Bistro, Shaw’s, Reny’s, Brackett’s Market, Mae’s Café & Bakery, and Sam’s Italian. Continued funding and support has come from All Saints Parish, Bath Rotary, Bessie D. Brooks Foundation, the Helen & George Ladd Charitable Foundation, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, and United Way of Mid Coast Maine.
Thank you all for making the lives of our elderly neighbors a little less lonely.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
