THE INAUGURAL Parkview Couch to 5K was held on Thursday at the Brunswick Mall. Nearly 40 runners trained for the event for eight weeks, with Parkview offering free training. The run was free. Parkview plans on holding its second event in August. “Our Couch to 5K was simply an ‘event,’ not a race,” said Tor y Ryden, Parkview Director of Community Relations/ Marketing. “This was an effort to do something for free for the community ... in an effor t to get folks moving! It’s in keeping with Parkview’s mission and we wanted to make sure as many people as possible could take advantage of it. The fun offshoot of this is that many people asked if they could continue ‘training’ at Parkview on Wednesdays after the event was over. This is precisely what we had been hoping for!” In the photos, runners participate in the Parkview Couch 5K.
